The Heart and Soul of the 4 Wheel Jamborees

I had it with my 6 inch Pro comp lift kit on my 2008 F150 4x4 PT because of the almost zero ground clearance. Since I off road about 6 days of the month my 2 yr old pro comp didn't cut it for me anymore. I did some research on a long travel suspension but it was cost prohibited with a price tag of 22 grand. I then decided to go with the 8 inch Rize lift and 2.5 king shocks. This lift was something I could afford and gave me a better ground clearance than the Pro Comp, plus it allowed me to install 38's open country Toyos. Even though I have no mechanical experience I decided to installed the lift myself with the help of a friend.

Banged up old suspension due to almost no ground clearance.

Air Bump Stops and Limited Straps

Since there's a decent chance of this truck leaving the ground momentarily, I couldn't do without a set of air bump stops and limited straps for both front and rear suspension. The main purpose of a bump stop is to serve as some final suspension cushion to keep the metal parts from coming together or from traveling too far, which might in some way damage the suspension or chassis. In my case damaging my custom camburg Upper A arms.

The limiting straps keep the weight of the entire axle from hanging off the shocks, and become the most limiting factor in my suspension. In this case for instance. Related video when this happened:

To place them correctly I took the truck to Wicked Creations in Garden Grove, CA http://www.wicked-creations.net/ where they removed the coil overs and collapse the shock and cycled front suspension. To properly place the the front bump stops they cut and fabricated dimple plate and welded it to the Rize frame along with bump stops mounts.

At the rear they disassemble the leaf springs leaving only 1 and collapsed it up wards in order to place bump stops in its proper location. I also requested for dimple plate to be welded on chassis, just for looks. Finally after all suspension and tires were installed vehicle was raised in the air and limited straps were then installed.

Wicked creation also custom fabricated a pair of upper A arms and installed with hime joints, I also had the A arms powder coated silver and black.
